Breast Cancer Awareness Program - Departments of General Surgery and Community Medicine

Oct 29, 2025

On October 29, 2025, FAMEH&RI under the Departments of General Surgery and Community Medicine hosted an impactful Breast Cancer Awareness Program focused on early detection and prevention.

The technical sessions featured risk factor identification by Dr. Shiva Kumar, alongside a specialized health education for ASHA workers. This dedicated session, led by Dr. Lavanya Shenoy, included a practical demonstration of Self-Breast Examination (SBE) and an interactive exchange of real-life experiences, during which workers were encouraged to utilize the hospital's subsidized diagnostic facilities.

Concluding with a vote of thanks by Dr. Syed Md Ayaz, the program successfully empowered grassroots health workers with the clinical knowledge and referral strategies necessary to effectively reduce the community burden of breast cancer.
