World Environment Day 2026

"Inspired by Nature: For Climate, For Our Future"

World Environment Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Farookh Academy of Medical Education Hospital & Research Institute (FAMEH&RI) on 5th June, 2026. The programme was organized by the Department of Community Medicine with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable practices among students, staff and the local community.

The celebration featured an awareness session highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and adoption of eco-friendly practices in everyday life. Activities are designed to foster a strong sense of responsibilities among our students towards ecological sustainability and aligns with community outreach goals of department and Sustainable development goals SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

As part of the observance, "Green Campus, Clean Campus" poster competition was conducted on 30th may, 2026 which showcased six student teams presenting practical sustainability solutions including advanced waste segregation, solar energy and EV charging concepts, and reduction of single-use plastics.

Sanitation Campaign was conducted to promote cleanliness and hygiene near the Chikkakadanahalli gate and along the National Highway. Faculty members, students, doctors, nursing staff, and non-teaching staff actively participated in cleaning the campus and spreading awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment. The initiative reinforced the message that environmental protection begins with individual responsibility and collective action.

Further strengthening its commitment to environmental sustainability, the institution organized a Tree Plantation Drive in collaboration with the Karnataka Forest Department. Saplings were planted across the campus to enhance green cover and foster ecological balance. Range Forest Officer Mr. Mohammed Zeeshan and officials from the Forest Department encouraged participants to nurture the planted saplings and continue supporting afforestation initiatives. Participants also took a pledge to protect the environment and contribute towards building a cleaner and greener society.

The World Environment Day celebrations and associated activities reflected the institution's unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, cleanliness, and sustainable development. Through these initiatives, FAME Hospital & Research Institute continues to inspire students and staff to become responsible citizens dedicated to protecting the environment for future generations.
