International Epilepsy Day 2026 - Departments of Community Medicine, Psychiatry and District Mental Health Program

On February 13, 2026, FAME H&RI observed International Epilepsy Day as part of Epilepsy Week, centered on the theme “Epilepsy Pledge – Turning Stories into Action.” The program was a collaborative effort between the Department of Community Medicine, the Department of Psychiatry, and the District Mental Health Programme (KaBHI), aimed at educating undergraduate medical students and reducing the social stigma surrounding neurological disorders. Key highlights included an expert talk by Dr. Manjushree on the differential diagnosis of epilepsy, discussions on lifestyle modifications such as sleep hygiene and stress management, and a practical demonstration of first-aid protocols during seizures. Under the guidance of Dr. Sudarshan B.P. and with significant support from Dr. Brunda (District Program Officer), the event successfully empowered students to differentiate epilepsy from other conditions and reinforced the institutional commitment to transforming awareness into meaningful clinical action.
